2023 Spring Guafengzhai Raw Pu-erh Tea Cake – 357g 刮风寨生茶

A 2023 spring Yunnan raw Pu-erh / sheng puer from the Guafengzhai area of Yiwu, pressed into the traditional 357g Seven Sons cake format. The tea combines clear leaf structure, a clean spring-tea aroma and the softer, sweeter side of Yiwu-style raw Pu-erh.

Tea type: Raw Pu-erh / Sheng Puer
Harvest: 2023 Spring
Origin: Guafengzhai, Yiwu, Yunnan
Format: Compressed round tea cake
Net weight: 357g

Taste & aroma

The liquor is clean and bright with a fresh mountain-forest aroma, soft floral and honeyed sweetness, and a refined texture that becomes more rounded through repeated infusions. The bitterness is present but controlled, giving way to a lingering returning sweetness and a smooth finish.

How to brew

Gongfu: Break off 6–8g and use a 100–150ml gaiwan or small teapot. Brew with 95–100°C / 203–212°F water. Start with an 8–12 second infusion and increase later steeps gradually.

Everyday teapot: Use around 4–5g per 300ml of hot water and steep for 2–3 minutes. Re-steep several times, adding time as the compressed leaf opens.

When to drink

This tea is particularly enjoyable from late morning through the afternoon, when its clean aroma and returning sweetness can be followed across multiple brews. It is also an excellent choice for focused weekend gongfu sessions and comparative tastings of Yiwu-area sheng.

Food pairing

Pair with fresh fruit, lightly roasted nuts, almond biscuits, steamed dumplings, mild cheeses or lightly sweet pastries. Delicate foods allow the floral-honeyed character of the tea to remain clear.

Storage & aging

Keep the cake in a clean, dry, ventilated and odor-free place away from direct sunlight and excess humidity. Store in breathable tea paper, a dedicated tea box or suitable Pu-erh storage. Stable conditions allow raw Pu-erh to continue developing in fragrance, sweetness and texture over time.

Tea-room styling & gifting

The blue-and-white wrapper and natural leaf appearance work beautifully in New Chinese, Zen, wabi-sabi and collector-style tea interiors. Display one wrapped cake beside celadon, Yixing clay, dark timber or handmade stoneware. The Guafengzhai name also makes it a strong gift for drinkers exploring well-known Yiwu mountain teas.
