Smeg Refreshes Opera Range Cookers for 2026: 115L Capacity, Pyrolytic Cleaning & Serious Multi-Function Cooking
The Italian brand’s professional-inspired Opera line has been reworked in 90cm and 100cm formats, keeping its Guido Canali-designed stainless-steel language while adding a more modern cooking and cleaning platform.

Smeg has unveiled a refreshed generation of its Opera range cookers for 2026, updating one of the brand’s most recognisable professional-style kitchen lines. The new family spans 90cm and 100cm formats in gas and induction configurations, with revised controls, larger capacity and stronger cleaning and airflow features.
The 90cm model gets a 115-litre cavity
KBBFocus reports that the 90cm Opera uses an extra-large 115-litre oven, while the 100cm format splits capacity across 70-litre and 35-litre cavities. That second arrangement will appeal to households that regularly need to cook at two temperatures or keep one smaller cavity in use for everyday meals.
Smeg is simplifying the interface
The refreshed range moves away from the previous TFT approach toward a touch display aligned more closely with Smeg’s wider oven family. The stainless-steel exterior, matching knobs and handles remain part of the Classic aesthetic created by architect Guido Canali.
Pyrolytic cleaning becomes standard
Pyrolytic cleaning is standard across the new Opera collection, while Vapor Clean provides a lower-energy everyday cleaning option. For a large range cooker, this matters: bigger cavities are impressive until cleaning them becomes a chore.
Air Fry, BBQ and pizza move into the range-cooker ecosystem
Smeg’s current Opera product pages support optional Airfry, double-sided barbecue and refractory pizza-stone accessories. That pushes the range cooker toward the same multifunctionality consumers now expect from smaller countertop appliances.
It also helps reclaim counter space. If the main cooker can cover more specialised functions, there is less need to keep separate gadgets permanently visible.
Twin fans and Circulaire target batch cooking
The refreshed models use a twin-fan system and Smeg’s Circulaire function to distribute heat evenly across multiple shelves. Closed-door grilling is intended to keep more cooking smells inside the oven, while a new tangential cooling system moves air from the door toward the splashback.
Who should consider it?
| Buyer | Why Opera fits |
|---|---|
| Large family | High oven capacity and multi-shelf cooking |
| Entertainer | Dual-cavity 100cm format and flexible cooking accessories |
| Design-led kitchen | Stainless-steel professional look without a restaurant aesthetic |
| Countertop declutterer | Air-fry, barbecue and pizza accessories reduce separate gadgets |
The Luxe Journal takeaway
The interesting part of Smeg’s Opera update is not one new mode. It is the range cooker absorbing functions that recently migrated to countertop appliances. The big cooker is becoming relevant again by becoming more flexible.
