Hangzhou Longjing — Classic Dragon Well Green Tea

A classic loose-leaf Longjing green tea presented in traditional paper wrapping. The recognisable flattened green leaves produce a fresh, clear cup with the gently toasted, vegetal and softly sweet character that has made Dragon Well one of China’s best-known green-tea styles.

Tasting profile

Style: Chinese green tea
Aroma: fresh greens, soft toasted notes and a delicate nutty impression
Palate: clean, smooth and lightly sweet
Finish: refreshing and elegant

How to brew

Western style: use about 3g of tea per 250ml of water at 75–85°C. Steep for 1.5–2.5 minutes.

Chinese glass method: add the leaves to a tall heat-safe glass, pour in 80–85°C water and sip as the leaves gradually unfurl. Top up with water for subsequent infusions.

Serving & pairing

A versatile daytime tea that pairs beautifully with steamed dumplings, light pastries, fresh fruit, mild cheeses, rice dishes and delicate desserts.

Tea-table styling & gifting

The understated paper presentation works especially well with contemporary New Chinese interiors. Style it beside celadon, white porcelain, bamboo, pale timber or a minimalist tea tray for an elegant tea corner or gift arrangement.

Storage

Seal tightly and keep cool, dry and away from sunlight, heat, humidity and strong odours. Green tea is best protected from prolonged exposure to air.

FAQ

Why use cooler water for Longjing?
Moderately hot water helps preserve its fresh aroma and keeps the cup smooth rather than overly astringent.

Can it be re-steeped?
Yes. Add fresh water as the cup becomes low and adjust the infusion time to taste.

Is Longjing caffeinated?
Yes. Green tea naturally contains caffeine.
