Three diamonds are the rarest distinction in the 2026 mainland Black Pearl Restaurant Guide. The six restaurants represent very different expressions of Chinese fine dining: aristocratic Beijing cuisine, refined Ningbo and Taizhou cooking, contemporary Fujian cuisine and hotel-based Jiangnan dining. Together they show that the highest level of the guide is not defined by a single culinary style.

At the top of the Black Pearl guide, regional identity becomes a form of luxury.

01

JINGJI Aristocrat Cuisine by Rong — Beijing

京季荣派官府菜 reached three diamonds in the 2026 edition. The restaurant draws on the language of Beijing aristocratic and mansion-style cuisine, where precision, formal service and historical reference are part of the experience.

Its promotion is particularly notable because Beijing has a wide fine-dining field, yet only one restaurant holds three Black Pearl diamonds in the 2026 mainland list.

02

Jing Xi Hui, The Bund — Shanghai

菁禧荟(外滩店) is one of Shanghai’s three three-diamond restaurants in the 2026 guide. Its location near the Bund places it within one of China’s most visible luxury-dining districts, where high-end Chinese cuisine competes directly with major international restaurants.

03

Yong Fu · North Bund — Shanghai

甬府·北外滩 represents the high-end evolution of Ningbo cuisine. Seafood, precise seasoning and coastal Zhejiang flavors define the culinary language, making it an important example of a regional cuisine moving into luxury destination dining.

04

Meet the Bund, Xintiandi — Shanghai

遇外滩(新天地) brings a refined Fujian focus to Shanghai. Fujian cuisine’s seafood, soups and delicate use of umami provide a very different expression of luxury from the heavier image sometimes associated with banquet dining.

05

Jin Sha, Four Seasons Hotel Hangzhou at West Lake — Hangzhou

杭州西子湖四季酒店·金沙厅 combines destination hotel hospitality with the culinary identity of Jiangnan. The West Lake setting gives it a strong sense of place, while the restaurant has long been recognized as one of Hangzhou’s major fine-dining destinations.

06

Xin Rong Ji, Linhai — Taizhou

新荣记(灵湖店) anchors the group’s reputation in its home region of Taizhou. The restaurant’s seafood-driven Zhejiang cooking has become one of the most recognizable examples of regional Chinese cuisine translated into premium dining.

07

What the Six Restaurants Have in Common

They do not share one cuisine. What connects them is depth of regional identity, careful sourcing, consistent execution and a dining experience designed as a destination. Shanghai has three of the six; Beijing, Hangzhou and Taizhou each have one.
